Linz, situated astride the Danube, midway between Vienna and Salzburg, is known for its advanced technological infrastructure that is interwoven with a dense natural landscape untypical for industrial cities of this scale. Compared to the rest of Austria, Linz and its outer conurbation area exhibit a high quota of large corporations and economic productiveness. In 2009 Linz was named Culture Capital of Europe providing a huge range of new cultural programs and infrastructures. The Ars Electronica Center Linz is well-known due to its worldwide digital community and their annual festival. The Lentos Museum, which opened in 2003, is considered one of the most important museums of modern and contemporary art in Austria. The region around the Lake Wolfgang (Wolfgangsee), the so-called Salzkammergut, where we will stay 2-3 days, has been designated as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. (It’s worth to stay there for a few days!)
